History

Treherbert Boys & Girls Club were originally established in 1935 and own a building right next to Treherbert Train Station, which is open 5 days per week with around 180 regular users. The building runs a Youth Club, Indoor Football and Training and is also the base for Autism Life Centres.

In 2017 the club formed a Senior Football Team starting off in the Rhondda & District League Division 1 (Tier 8), where they won the championship in their first season and were promoted into the Rhondda & District League Premier Division. The club then spent the next two seasons in top division finishing second in the 2018-19 before winning the league in the 2019-20 season to win promotion to the South Wales Alliance League.

With no local football played in 2020-21 due to the Covid Pandemic, Treherbert started 2021-22 in the South Wales Alliance Division 2 which they won at the first time of asking, winning 24 of their 30 league games, scoring 112 goals and conceding just 32 to finish six points clear of nearest rivals Cardiff Bay Warriers, with Jacob Duckett finishing top scorer with 23 goals. The club were promoted into Division 1 for 2022-23 season.

The club finished runners up to Caerphilly Athletic, winning 20 of their 28 league games, scoring 84 and conceding 35, Jacob Duckett again top scoring with 20 goals. Another promotion was gained to South Wales Alliance Premier Division for 2023-24 season. 14 wins in 22 league game was enough to secure third place in the division, behind FC Cwmaman and Bridgend Street with Harry Jones finishing top scorer with 16 goals. Promotion was achieved alongside Bridgend Street when FC Cwmaman failed to gain a Tier 3 Licence.

Treherbert Boys & Girls Football Club have achieved 5 promotions since they formed in 2017. In 2021, RCT CBC announced plans for a 3G facility to be constructed at the Baglan Field in Penyrenglyn, Treherbert. This was the 14th 3G facility for RCT as part of their commitment to have a 3G within a 3 mile radius of all residents. The facility is adjacent to Penyrenglyn Primary School and provides a full-size 3G football pitch, as well as three 5-a-side pitches. The 3G was opened by Rob Page in November 2022.
